Justice League of America, Vol. 1

As the Flash battles an alien life form on Earth, Hawkman and Aquaman watch from the satellite. In an effort to relieve the boredom he feels, Hawkman uses the Flash's battle as an excuse to assemble the League.While originally confident of defeating the alien blobs, the Flash is attacked by them and the League are defeated as they attempt to help.Back on the satellite a recovered Flash tells his friends of a Dr Hubble who had asked him for help in deciphering a message from space. Hubble's original message was mis-heard by an alien who, thinking the Earth was under attack from super-beings, sent the blobs - Adaptoids - to rescue the Earth.The alien contacts the League and challenges them to take on the Adaptoids but, no matter what the Leaguers do, they are defeated and forced to retreat to the satellite where they find that Hawkman has left his post to return to Thanagar.
