Still under the effects of Nekron, Hawkman refuses to save Midway City from the solar prominence he has sent hurtling towards it. Wonder Woman, however, uses her lasso to force Hawkman to attempt to save the city. Discovering they cannot affect the solar threat, they arrange for the population of the city to be teleported to safety. At the satellite, Flash tells the other Leaguers that he too has decided to quit. A moment later, the Leaguers realize that Red Tornado is no longer among them. They are then contacted by one of the Guardians of The Universe but his message is interrupted by Red Tornado, disguised as Hawkman, being destroyed by the solar prominence. Encouraged by Tornado's sacrifice, the League learn all they can about Nekron from the Guardian who directs them to the fallen Green Lantern. Half of the team find Lantern while the others attack Nekron who was rampaging through Paris. With Lantern conscious again and his ring recharged, it is taken back to the satellite where it is used to boost Aquaman's telepathic power as he implants a suggestion in Superman's mind, forcing him to see his own death and become afraid. Nekron is teleported into the satellite and senses Superman's fear, gorging himself on it until he overdoses. Shrinking down to little more than an inch in size, he is captured, while outside the remains of Red Tornado's body are left to float in orbit.
