Under orders from Max Lord, Oberon enlists the aid of Amanda Waller to help discover what is wrong with Blue Beetle. Reviewing the tape of the phone call Beetle took before attacking Max and Oberon, Martian Manhunter and Max discover the culprit. As the rest of the League deal with Beetle's conditions in their own way, Waller interviews Beetle and reveals the code phrase that triggers another attack from him which she manages to fend off. She decides to hypnotise him to try and deprogramme him. During the hypnosis, Beetle relives the League's infiltration of Bialya and reveals the Queen Bee to be behind his attack on Max. The shock of the memory, however, results in Beetle sinking into a coma. In desperation, Batman seeks help from the former Doctor Fate.
