My quick rating - 6.9/10. The closest and most obvious comparison here is "Pearl Harbor" and while I thought that movie wasn't bad, "Midway" is far better. Yes, nearly 20 years gives better effects. That has nothing to do with why I believe this was a better flick. First, I actually gave a crap about the characters in this movie. And they seemed very belieavable. Sorry, Ben and Liv, you just aren't. Second is the fact that the story seems much more realistic as it does point out being out-thought and out gunned instead of a rah rah, USA thing. At the time, that just wasn't the case. In "Midway" they played the battle and scene to the time period much better than a propaganda flick. Back to the battle sceens. WOW did they look good, and holy cows, did the divebombing tactics look freaky as hell. Overall, a very good movie all around and worth a look for war buffs and non alike.
