Topper Returns

Perenially haunted and staid banker Cosmo Topper (Roland Young) finds himself with ghosts requiring his assistance. On vacation with his scatterbrain wife (Billie Burke) and their chauffeur (Eddie Anderson), they are caught up in some intrigue. The two with Topper manage to create enough panic and fright to prevent Topper from enjoying his clairvoyance. When Gail Richards (Joan Blondell) is mistakenly murdered instead of her friend Ann (Carole Landis), her dead spirit recruits Topper to help her solve the crime. No shortage of suspects force Topper to play detective, meeting all kinds of suspicious people, including Gail’s father (H. B.Warner) and the local doctor (George Zucco). Being touched by the paranormal turns Topper into a first-rate detective who can help the dead girl find peace and justice.
