"The Man with No Name" (Clint Eastwood) rides into San Miguel, a town where the feud between the sheriff, John Baxter (Wolfgang Lukschy) and Don Miguel Rojo (Antonio Prieto) is raging. Neither side is good - the Baxters sell guns and whiskey to the Indians and the Rojos steal and kill whenever possible. The the innkeeper, Silvanito (José Calvo), warns the gunman but he decides to stay and work for both sides, pitting them against each other. Real conflict is kicked off when the gunman first tries to steal the gold the Rojos stole from some soldiers and then takes Marisol (Marianne Koch) from Ramon Rojo (Gian Maria Volontè). He turns her over to the Baxters, and then goes back to rescue her agtain. The gunman is captured and beaten by Ramon, but is smuggled out of town in a coffin by the undertaker, Piripero (Joseph Egger) and nursed back to health. The Rojos burn the sheriff's stronghold, killing all the Baxters. The gunman returns to town to rescue Silvanito (José Calvo) from the Rojos and faces down the entire gang. He kills them all, and then leaves town before the law can arrive.
