Last Man Standing
Mike Baxter is the marketing director for an outdoor sporting goods store "Outdoor Man". He loves traveling the world and having outdoor adventures and, of course, he loves his sports, he drives a pick-up truck and works on cars. With his Outdoor Man blog he can share his "man" view with the internet and the world. However at home he is surround by his wife, Vanessa, and their three daughters, Mandy, Eve and Kristin. And that is a different adventure the Outdoor Man has to adjust to every day.
Kyle leaves the loading dock door open, allowing a bear to wander into Outdoor Man.
Mike is disappointed to learn that the "Jack and Jill" wedding showers for Mandy and Kyle are scheduled on the same day as the Broncos-Chargers game.
Vanessa, supported by Mike, lectures Mandy on the dangers of vaping, then feels the pull of it herself as she navigates a potential teacher's strike; meanwhile Ryan and Kristen discover a safe in the basement of their new house.
Boyd is turning 10 years old, and sticking with the Baxter family tradition, Mike wants nothing more than to give him a shotgun and take him hunting. Kristin is all for it but Ryan has no interest in his son having a gun or harming animals.
At Halloween the Baxter family is excited about their annual party, except for Mike, who's reluctantly tasked with choosing the theme. In hopes of turning everyone against the holiday, Mike decides that if the whole family has to dress up like one another they'll end up making fun of one another.
Having a difficult time supporting Eve's gap year, Mike gives her a hard lesson on surviving in the real world, but Eve's unexpected reaction throws Mike for a loop. Meanwhile, Kyle also wants to give Mandy the best wedding gift imaginable.
As the big day approaches, Mandy has turned into a full-blown bridezilla. She fires her wedding planner, puts her whole family to work and refuses to let Kyle wear sneakers with his suit. Tired of Mandy's behavior, Ed opts out of the festivities all together, leaving Mandy to re-cast the role of Kyle's best man.
Mike is determined to buy a classic car that's been left to Chuck by his deceased father.
Mandy asks Mike to make a politically correct speech at her graduation.
Since losing her teaching job, Vanessa has been spending her time hovering over the family, and it's driving everyone nuts. Over at Kristin and Ryan's house, Ryan and Kyle are wrapped-up in a zombie face-off to determine who knows the most about zombies and how to survive an apocalypse.
Eve introduces the family to her new boyfriend, who asks Mike to keep secret the fact that he's a recovering alcoholic.
When Mike and Vanessa turn down Eve's request for money to cover some recording equipment, Kristin jumps in and offers to front the bill. Mike later confronts Kristin for undercutting his parenting and giving money to Eve, and Kristin snaps back at him for always spoiling Mandy.
Mike is excited when he receives an offer to submit his artifact to a renowned museum - something Ed's wanted his whole life.
Mike and Vanessa are put off by the amorous conduct of newlyweds Kyle and Mandy. The newlyweds begin the search for their own place. Meanwhile, at Outdoor Man Restaurant, Kristen gives Eve a turn at the mic.
Mike pits his sons-in-law against each other in an attempt to make them fix things around the house.
Eve surprises Mike and Vanessa with her decision about college.
Mike runs a blog contest and the blog winner appears to be a fan fanatic as well as an anarchist. Vanessa while losing one old neighbor friend gains a new secret admirer of English literature at a street corner book club.
Mike and Vanessa are trying to convince Eve and Mandy that they should attend Church on Sundays. Meanwhile, Kyle participates in Ryan's podcast.
Overwhelmed with the number of students she tutors, Vanessa decides to officially open her own business and hire additional teachers to lighten the load; but sparks fly with Mike when one of the teachers she hires is Ryan. Meanwhile, Kyle attempts to fit in as a "Baxter entrepreneur" by developing a series of wacky inventions.
When Eve's boyfriend, Rob, doesn't invite her to his parents' anniversary party, Vanessa feels that Eve should tell him how this makes her feel.
Mike and Vanessa think it's time for newlyweds Mandy and Kyle to move out, but when Chuck relays some unexpected news about Kyle's absentee mom, Mike has second thoughts. Meanwhile, Eve tells Ryan that Boyd is making up stories about his Dad's real job, because he's embarrassed about being home-schooled.
When Mandy job shadows Mike at The Outdoor Man, her textbook conflict resolution skills differ from Mike's experience-based approach; and she unintentionally causes a dispute between Chuck and Joe. Meanwhile, Kristen and Eve think Vanessa needs to blow off some steam and invite her to their kickboxing class.
