The shooting at Louis E. Grieve High School has escalated the gang violence that has overwhelmed Gotham City overnight. The death of Tim's classmate Darla Aquista, the daughter of the man now in control of Gotham's mafia families, has escalated the violence as Henry Aquista orders his men to go to any lengths to destroy the other mobs fighting for control of Gotham. Batman approaches Commissioner Akins with a proposal that he says could end the gang war quickly... if he's willing to hand over command of his men to Batman for eight hours. Especially doubtful of Batman after the image of him carrying Darla Aquista's body out of the High School earlier, Akins refuses, leaving Batman with few options. Seeing the chaos in the city, Tim regretfully goes back on his word to his father. Traveling to Wayne Manor, he suits up as Robin joins the struggle to restore order to Gotham.
