Superheroes gather in the ruins of Atlantis' chief cemetary to say their farewells to their departed comrade, once Aquaman and now the Dweller in the Depths. Arthur feels responsible for the Dweller's death, feeling that he should have been able to stop the Narwhal from killing Orin. After the other heroes depart, Arthur and Topo escort the party from Sub-Diego in their return home. Instead of swimming, they are going to attempt to use the Hatches, teleportation portals left by the Deep Church of Dyss. Topo's people, refugees from Dyss, have found a way to use the Hatches themselves, and use of these devices would shorten the journey to Sub-Diego from months to days. But Dyss doesn't want non-believers using their technology.
