My quick rating - 4,8/10. Holy crap, looks like the main bad guy in this is Dallas Page, you may know him as Diamond or DDP. The flick attempts to bring a twist to the home invasion genre by setting the story in the wild west. While it offers an interesting premise and features Dallas Page, as a key antagonist, the execution falls short in several aspects. The film revolves around a family of homesteaders who find themselves at the mercy of a gang of outlaws. This revelation of DDP's involvement as one of the bad guys (I was wrong about being the main guy), although unexpected, adds a certain level of intrigue for fans of wrestling who may recognize him. However, the film fails to fully capitalize on his presence and doesn't explore his character beyond the initial surprise factor.
One of the film's strengths lies in its attempt to combine the home invasion concept with the western setting. The clash between the outlaws and the homesteading family creates a unique backdrop for the action. However, the execution of the action sequences leaves much to be desired. The action feels mediocre and lacks the intensity and excitement that one would expect from a film of this nature. One of the standout characters is a little girl from the homesteading family. Although not much detail is provided about her character, she manages to leave a lasting impression. Her resilience and determination in the face of danger make her a memorable presence amidst an otherwise forgettable cast. Despite its potential, "Homestead" ultimately falls short of delivering a satisfying cinematic experience. The plot lacks depth, the action is underwhelming, and the characters, with the exception of the little girl, fail to make a lasting impact. Mediocre action, lackluster characters, and missed opportunities prevent this flick from reaching its full potential. If you're a fan of wrestling and want to see DDP in a different role, you might find some interest in "Homestead." Otherwise, it's a movie that can be easily skipped.
