Justice League of America, Vol. 1

Despero lands on Earth and kills a hunter, taking his thoughts to discover the old League has gone. He pledges that their replacements will suffer in their stead.

Zatanna, held prisoner by Adam and prevented from casting spells, tries to escape as Adam begins a genetic graft to give himself magical powers.

Bruce Wayne and Mari McCabe enjoy a night out in Gotham but are interrupted by the arrival of Despero. Becoming the Batman and Vixen, they battle Despero and are overcome.

The League travel to Gotham and find that Despero has been changing civilians into demonic forms while altering the city into a vision of hell and has captured Batman and Vixen.
